Quilty Greetings

I can't believe how long it has been since I've posted. Having the flu has been a mixed blessing. The good part is I've time to do things I want to like blogging but life had got in the way. Hope everyone had a good holiday. Before Christmas, I took a class from the authors of the book, Tis The Season, and was madly trying to finish it before Christmas. Well, in the end, I chose baking over quilting but won't make that mistake next year. My waistline will thank me. That project is one of my PHD's in M's PHD challenge.

I was having fun reading blogs tonight and saw a couple of giveaways. One was Sew Sew's 300th post. I'm sure going to have to get going to catch up to her.

Something Different

My husband is going back to work in a week or so after being off for a month. For some reason, it's been harder to get quilting done than when he's off in the summer. At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it, grin. I have a Christmas project to work on that I started at a workshop in Brandon. The ladies from the Quilters Patch in Brandon put the workshop on and the project is from their book. I'll have to post a picture when it's done although mine will look a wee bit different from theirs. I'm really feeling enthused so I had better take advantage of it while I have the enthusiasm.

Help-Jellyroll patterns?

Wow, two posts in one day. My two jellyroll packs came from Hancocks last week, black/white and retro. They're calling to me, but I don't know what to do with them. Does anyone have suggestions?

Another small project done

I took a class in May on Seminole Piecing. We used the technique in a tablerunner. I decided to do it for a friend. 

 Her birthday was in June and she told me that there was no hurry. I replied that if I didn't work on it now, that it might go on the pile of UFO's and disappear into the storeage room. Heaven help it if that happened. She quickly agreed that it would be a good idea for me to keep working on it. I gave it to her yesterday and she was really pleased.

Calabogie and home

It was a great holiday but it's nice to be home too. The quilt show at Picton was fantastic. I was awed at the creativity displayed by the quilters there and amazed at the number of quilts displayed. My dh patiently looked around with me, checked when the demo would be and saved a seat for me while I went outside and ate a snack. The demo was on the mariner's compass and she actually made it look doable. Her pattern was sold at the lqs so off we went to buy one. Of course, I supported some of the vendors at the show, including M. from A.P. I was so impressed by his patience that the next day I went to two museums that he wanted to. I figured that was only fair.

When I got home, I finished the baby quilt for my great-niece. Now, onto my friend's table runner.

Greetings everyone: I'm posting from Calabogie, Ontario. I'm going to a quilt show at Picton tomorrow. My dh even found out about it for me before we left Winnipeg. We will be going into Ottawa and Kingston and going home to Winnipeg through the United States. Does anyone know of any qs's that I should stop and visit? I don't think that Bruce will stop at everyone but he might stop at a few. Barb, is your niece's anywhere near our path? My brain isn't remembering and someone wants the computer so I have to get off.
